Book Club • Why We Love Star Wars Novels
We pull back the curtain on our popular book club series, explaining what makes the written word such a powerful medium for galaxy far, far away storytelling.
Alex Kormann was born and raised in New Jersey, where his earliest memories of photography involve playing with his father's film cameras as a child.
In 2014, photography took on a deeper meaning for him after his father passed away from cancer. It became a personal form of therapy, and through sharing his father's story, he witnessed firsthand the power of storytelling and its ability to make a meaningful impact on others. That realization solidified his passion for visual storytelling.
Kormann went on to study photojournalism at UNC-Chapel Hill and was hired by the Minneapolis Star Tribune shortly after graduating. After spending two years in Duluth, he now lives and works in Minneapolis.
He has a particular interest in long-form storytelling and enjoys working with medium format film. In addition to his work as a photojournalist, he is also a co-host of the Star Wars Generations podcast on TruStory FM.
