The Clone Wars • S1 E1-5

This week we kick off our series on The Clone Wars, where I will be joined by my co-hosts Riki and Sarah Hayashi as we navigate through the entire series. Each podcast episode will cover 3-5 episodes of the show, centered around its plot arcs.

Here we tackle Season 1, episodes 1-5, as well as introduce the series itself. What makes this series, ostensibly a kids’ show, so compelling? What do these initial episodes teach us about the war, the wider world, and the clones? Why are there such intriguing and potent character moments, intertwined with numerous plot inconsistencies? And can our hosts distinguish between episode introductory texts and the sayings of fortune cookies?

Sarah Hayashi was born and raised in the wilds of Saskatchewan, Canada. Her passion for Star Wars was ignited when she first witnessed A New Hope as a teenager, and her enthusiasm has only grown over the years—six years spent working at her local comic shop, regularly indulging in nerd culture, certainly played a part. Now residing in Virginia, she’s on the cusp of completing degrees in Mathematics and Studio Art – Ceramics. Sarah is also on a mission to convince her husband to take her back to Disneyland for another chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon.

Riki Hayashi has been a Star Wars aficionado for his entire life. He’s an advocate for finding equilibrium in one’s relationship with the Force, harmonizing both the light and dark aspects. He’s also captivated by the technical aspects of the Star Wars universe and harbors aspirations to one day construct his own Star Destroyer.

A millennial, Gen Z’er, and Gen X’er walk into a cantina …

Each of us came into Star Wars in our own way, at our own time, and there is so much we can learn from each other when those differences fuel conversation, not conflict. Join Erin, Matthew, and Alex as we share our love for the galaxy far, far away on the Star Wars Generations Podcast!
