Prometheus

"Big things have small beginnings."

Well, not when envisioned by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. “Prometheus,” the non-prequel to “Alien” is anything but a small beginning to this universe and, while ambitious, leaves us with a lot of unanswered questions and problems that shouldn’t have been there in the first place. It’s a frustrating film to talk about, movie lovers, but one that we have a great time discussing. Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – in this week’s episode as we really dig into this film and discuss everything about it, from the stunning visuals to the problematic script. We talk about the team who put together these visuals and who rightfully should all receive numerous accolades. We talk about the cast, particularly the stand-out performance of Michael Fassbender as David. We also look at his relationship with the other androids in the Alien anthology. We chat about the fundamental script problems in this film and the trickle-down effect they have on the rest of the film. We also talk about how, despite those problems, the script and the film still pose some fascinating questions that are worth talking about long after the film’s been watched. It’s a fascinating film, albeit problematic, and one worth discussion – preferably over a slice of pie – so join us this week to listen in!

Assorted Notes & Links

A show about movies and how they connect.

When the movie ends, our conversation begins. We love movies. We’ve been talking about them, one movie a week, since 2011. It’s a lot of movies, that’s true, but we’re passionate about origins and performance, directors and actors, themes and genres, and so much more. So join the community and let’s hear about your favorite movies, too.
