Ethics of the Clone Wars • Vacation Cast
I’m on vacation this week, and the internet is a lot worse than I had hoped up here, so I couldn’t produce a new episode.
Matthew Fox has been passionate about deep conversations about genre media since childhood, when watching the original Star Trek series with their mother often led to discussions about the ethical questions it raised.
Beyond podcasting, Matthew helps run a small nonprofit dedicated to breaking down barriers to computer science education for youth and also provides consulting services for nonprofits and small businesses.
Over time, their podcasting interests have expanded, launching a Star Wars-focused podcast in 2019 and frequently appearing as a guest or co-host on PandaVision and other shows. While ethical questions are not always the primary focus of their work, Matthew has a knack for finding them in nearly everything they watch.
They are the host and founder of both Star Wars Generations and Superhero Ethics on TruStory FM.

And what are the consequences when a war is fought without understanding its underlying reasons?

Paul and I discuss non-powered individuals in worlds where others wield extraordinary abilities. We focus particularly on Avatar: Legend of Korra, Season 1, and how it addresses this question, but we also broaden the topic to cover numerous other stories. Whether you’re a hardcore Korra fan or have never seen the series, you’ll be able to follow the discussion.
Riki and Sarah are back to talk about The Clone Wars. Today we cover Season 2, episodes 15-17. We’re examining senatorial politics and murder, discussing space
While Ozark is a bit outside our normal topic and doesn’t have many heroes, it certainly has a lot of villains with different ethical perspectives, all of whom are convinced they’re the good ones! Stranded Panda extraordinaire Ashley Coffin joins me as we talk about each of the characters and the difficult choices they have to make. Whether you love the show or have no idea what’s going on, there is a lot here to dive into and enjoy.
Jeff and Matthew carry on with their Star Wars marathon, this time with Attack of the Clones! They delve into the challenge of finding the silver linings in
What could be more entertaining than applying an ethical system from one universe to our favorite characters from others? In this episode, we take the ethical color pie from Magic: The Gathering—which categorizes ethics based on motivations and mindsets rather than actions—and see how it aligns with other characters. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with MtG; if you enjoy discussing the ethical frameworks of characters like Tony Stark, Malcolm Reynolds, and Han Solo, this episode has something for you!
