Minute Ninety Three: From Big and Green and Buck Ass Nude to Clint Needing to Level Out

Matthew Fox from the Superhero Ethics Podcast and season 4 joins us in this episode!

In the ninety-third minute of The Avengers

Bruce continues his conversation with Harry Dean Stanton, the old security guard. We debate exactly what happened to Hulk/Bruce if Stanton saw him big and green and buck ass nude. Does that mean Hulk’s clothes ripped off in his descent? Pete tries making the case that he became Bruce midair, then Hulked out again before impact before going unconscious and turning to Bruce yet again. It doesn’t make a lot of sense no matter how you slice it, but it makes for fun dialogue to come out of Stanton’s mouth. Perhaps that’s the only reason it’s there? We also chat about the extended content of this scene, because it gives a great extra bit of conflict for Bruce. Why did they cut it? And does it reveal that they’re actually on the north end of Jersey right across from Manhattan? Does that make sense?

From there, we enter pop-art Warhol-esque Barton as he struggles to break free from the mind stone’s power. But why this crazy color treatment? It’s not even Clint’s POV. Does Erik go through this same thing all alone on the top of Stark Tower? Natasha’s trying to help him, and this is really our chance to bring Clint into the heroes’ side of the story. Tune in!
