Vox Lux

Let’s just get this out of the way. Steve and JJ are really split on this one. JJ was disappointed that this was more of a poem than a film and wasn’t happy about the execution of this film. Steve, on the other hand, gives it praise for its ambitiousness and the opening sequence before the titles.

They spend a bit of time discussing the powerful opening sequense that JJ describes as “a sledgehammer to the face” and Steve considers a “wonderful short film” on its own. There is beauty and darkness in this film that they delve into. In the end they agree that this film falls short of its potential. Listen to them get into what works and does not work in Vox Lux.
