Conversations Between the Punches • Superhuman Public Radio Season Two
The second season of Superhuman Public Radio has started, and its creators Max and John are back to talk about it!
Matthew Fox has been passionate about deep conversations about genre media since childhood, when watching the original Star Trek series with their mother often led to discussions about the ethical questions it raised.
Beyond podcasting, Matthew helps run a small nonprofit dedicated to breaking down barriers to computer science education for youth and also provides consulting services for nonprofits and small businesses.
Over time, their podcasting interests have expanded, launching a Star Wars-focused podcast in 2019 and frequently appearing as a guest or co-host on PandaVision and other shows. While ethical questions are not always the primary focus of their work, Matthew has a knack for finding them in nearly everything they watch.
They are the host and founder of both Star Wars Generations and Superhero Ethics on TruStory FM.

Danielle (Written in the SW) joins me to discuss “Thrawn”, book one of the Star Wars: Thrawn trilogy written by Timothy Zahn in the Disney canon.
It’s the podcast where a filmmaker and a comedian are GUESTS on the Bingers Assemble Podcast talking about one of our favorite 80s adventure stories… this is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, a movie selection from 1989.
In honor of the late Sheldon Menery, we ask: What is Rule Zero – his philosophy that any game should start from a place of shared expectations – and what can it teach us about building community?
I talk to Riki Hayashi about “Master & Apprentice,” a Star Wars novel about Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s master-apprentice relationship, with Dooku flashbacks.
Caged Bishop Cosplay joins me to talk about his experience as a blerd (black nerd), intersectionality in fandom, and our shared love as masculine folks for Barbie.
What leads a Jedi to the dark side? How did the Clone Wars hinder the Jedi in aiding padawans, and how did Palpatine exploit this? We discuss Delilah S. Dawson’s “Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade.”
Professor Matthew Kapell joins me to discuss superheroes, mythology, and the American Monomyth.
Erin McGowan joins me to talk about Cosplay. We talk about the community, how to become a part of it, and some of the questions it raises about fandom and how we interact with the stories we love and each other.
Steve Stormoen of the Hype Is My Superpower podcast joins me to talk about the X-Men in comics through the lens of activism and social movements.
