IM2123: And now a Very Special Announcement
Wait, you thought the interviews were over? Not yet! We introduce and have a conversation with the new hosts of Marvel Minute Season 4. Spoiler: it’s not us!
With over 25 years of experience in film, television, and commercial production, Andy has cultivated an enduring passion for storytelling in all its forms. His enthusiasm for the craft began in his youth when he and his friends started making their own movies in grade school. After studying film at the University of Colorado Boulder, Andy wrote, directed, and produced several short films while also producing indie features like Netherbeast Incorporated and Ambush at Dark Canyon.
Andy has been on the production team for award-winning documentaries such as The Imposter and The Joe Show, as well as TV shows like Investigation Discovery’s Deadly Dentists and Nat Geo’s Inside the Hunt for the Boston Bombers. Over a decade ago, he started podcasting with Pete and immediately embraced the medium. Now, as a partner at TruStory FM, Andy looks forward to more storytelling through their wide variety of shows.
Throughout his career, Andy has passed on his knowledge by teaching young minds the crafts of screenwriting, producing, editing, and podcasting.
Outside of work, Andy is a family man who enjoys a good martini, a cold beer, a nice cup o’ joe. And always, of course, a great movie.

For our August 2021 member bonus episode, we add another film to our current ‘80s Comedy with Coolidge & Heckerling’ series. We talk about Amy Heckerling’s sequel to the original hit. Why does it feel subpar though? And is it Heckerling’s fault?
This series is over. We’ve covered Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Valley Girl, Johnny Dangerously, Real Genius, Look Who’s Talking, and National Lampoon’s European Vacation. So what did we think of Amy Heckerling and Martha Coolidge and what they brought to the table?
Fifth of five in our ‘80s Comedy with Coolidge & Heckerling’ series. Amy Heckerling returns to personal filmmaking but does it in a broad romantic comedy. We close out the series with a conversation about her most successful film.
The fourth of five in our 80s Comedy with Coolidge and Heckerling series, and the second film directed by Martha Coolidge we’ve discussed on the show. So much to love in this film! It’s a film about smart people that feels genuine. Plus, there’s lots of popcorn too…
How does director Amy Heckerling handle shifting to broad parody comedy, in a period film to boot? What do we think of Michael Keaton, Joe Piscopo, Marilu Henner, Maureen Stapleton, Griffin Dunne, and the rest of the cast? How about that alternate ending? Tune in to this week’s show to get answers to these questions and more!
What’s the story as to how director Martha Coolidge found Nicolas Cage for his part in this film? And how great is he with Deborah Foreman as the two leads? The Romeo and Juliet story works well in this teen world of the San Fernando Valley vs. the grungier Hollywood/DTLA. How do the actors deliver in creating these two worlds? And how about Coolidge and her music selections? We talk about all of this and more on this week’s show so check it out then tune in!
Director Amy Heckerling got her start with ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High,’ but how does it hold up today? So many incredible young performers early in their careers in this film – Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sean Penn, Phoebe Cates, Judge Reinhold, Forest Whitaker, Anthony Edwards, Eric Stoltz, even Nicolas Cage! Who are the standouts? Is the film enough of a comedy or is it too serious? And how about the music? Tune in to this week’s show to get answers to these questions and more!
We’re taking July off as usual but wanted to give the people what they want – more Flickchart re-ranking! Here’s another round, and let’s just say Andy ends up faring better than Pete.
