CATFA 048: A Dramatic Misuse of a Tool in Service of Communications

Minute Forty-Eight: From Taking the Fight Overseas to Steve’s Promotion

Joining us on the show today and the rest of the week, it’s Jessica Plummer, author of Sword, Stone and Table as well as the host of Flights and Tights: A Superman Movie Podcast.

In the forty-eighth minute of Joe Johnston’s 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger

Colonel Phillips has plans for the SSR that involve Peggy and Howard flying with him that night to London. But how much of this is SOP and how much is Phillips pushing his agenda with the program? And why send Steve to Alamagordo? Speaking of, we talk a bit about the history of Alamagordo. We also talk about Steve’s penchant for not following orders. He’s kind of the worst soldier. Maybe Phillips was right? But Senator Brandt has other plans for Steve and does his best politician pitch to Steve, selling him on plans to join the battle. Why is Steve so naive, especially if he’s from Brooklyn? But he bites and we end the minute with Steve getting ready to start his promotion.

Will Steve like his promotion? Tune in!
