Minute Sixty-Five: From Finding Bucky to Two Seconds Left
Joining us, we have Matthew Fox, the voice behind The Ethical Panda and our host from last season!
In the sixty-fifth minute of Joe Johnston’s 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger…
Cap finds Bucky! And as it turns out, the schematic on Dr. Zola’s desk showing presumably the experiments he was doing on Bucky was to turn him into the version of Dr. Zola that we get in the comics. How intriguing…
When Cap saves Bucky, he does say, “I thought you were dead.” So was he, in fact, looking for other POWs? Apparently, it doesn’t matter because those countdown clocks keep ticking down and Steve has to get Bucky out of there. Which they work to do while bantering the whole time. We discuss the nature of the Steve/Bucky banter and how it fits in their relationship, the military, and the MCU. We also talk about the countdown clocks – is a second actually a second on those or are they running fast? We touch on the Howling Commandos saving the troops out front of the compound and chat about some of Matthew’s favorite moments with Cap.
Lots to discuss, and the perfect cliffhanger. Tune in!
