Minute Fifty: From Another Headbutt to A Concussive Strike
Eric Deutsch, co-host from Flash Gordon Minute and Escape From New York Minute, joins us in this episode!
In the fiftieth minute of The Avengers…
More fighting between our heroes. How much did we want to see this when we were kids on the playground? How often did we argue about who would beat who? This is that chance. Did we need it? Maybe not. But it plays well for the most part, right? We talk about some moments that work really well in this battle. We also talk about why Thor is so serious here, much different than later when he gets to fight Hulk. Andy even creates a wacky metaphor for the entire situation.
And then we get to talk about the grown-up showing up as Captain America arrives, clocking them both with the pointy edge of his shield. But why did he decide to climb up to the top end of a broken tree? And how far did he have to run to get here? We debate a bit about the moment when Steve challenges Thor to put his hammer down, wondering if Thor only attacks Cap because Tony throws out a smarmy comment.
And then we get the other great argument on playgrounds – which weapon’s stronger. We get to see Thor’s hammer pounding Cap’s shield and lo and behold, it’s a draw! Sure, it destroys an acre of forest, but it’s worth it to see this, right? We dig into this and more. Tune in!
