Thor 084: What Ever Happened to My Svartalfheim Twist?

Minute Eighty-Four: From Sif’s Stunning Move to Volstagg’s Final Moment… Again

Joining us to discuss the Destroyer tearing Puente Antiguo apart, Sif’s cool move, the Destroyer’s awesome body spin, and the blasts that pretty much should’ve killed everyone are Robin Burdge from Karate Kid Minute and Travis Bow from Reel Comic Heroes.

  • Sif uses a foothold on the telephone pole to leap onto the back of the Destroyer and it’s a damn cool move. But who saw that step? It’s hard to tell it’s there.
  • The moment between Sif and Volstagg is cute.
  • But then the Destroyer turns itself around, and that’s seriously what it’s all about. Possibly one of the coolest things in the MCU.
  • What’s great about this moment is that it sets up just how impressive the Destroyer is and what a formidable foe they have to battle.
  • In the script, the Warriors Three discuss a few other options for battle moves to fight the Destroyer – the Svartalfheim Twist, Kiss of the Hag, Face Full of Boot, and the Flying Mountain. Guess which one they tried on the Destroyer?
  • The way the Destroyer’s fire blasts don’t always make sense. How does it propel Sif into the air? And how does it cause what looks like a massive explosion between Sif and the Warriors Three?
  • This explosion sends the Warriors Three crashing into Isabela’s Diner, destroying one set of windows. The Destroyer then blasts them again, blowing out the other windows in the diner. It destroys half the town. It blasts glass over the Asgardian Three. How does anyone survive?
  • Especially Volstagg who gets blown out of Isabela’s Diner on fire, crashing onto a bench outside the Greyhound station. How is he alive?
Travis Bow

It’s a minute full of battle with the Destroyer, and the Destroyer looks like it’s going to win. Robin and Travis are here for it. Tune in!
