2022-10-29 - Saturday Matinée Lobby Card

2022-10-29 • Saturday Matinée

Tommy Metz III leads Krissy Lenz and Mandy Kaplan on a matinée tour of movies and television magic that ends in a recast-a-thon of movies that definitely should be musicals.

But first, the watchlist. Tommy and Mandy finished The Patient and loved it. Smile is middling fare according to Krissy, but she’s an island on who’s seen it on the panel just yet. We have a significant detour around Don’t Worry Darling which you might even classify as “gossip corner.”

THE LIST!

This week the team brings a list of movies which really and truly should be adapted into musicals. But they have a twist! They were challenged not only to bring the movie, but to bring a principal cast member and the first song. Which, of course, they overdid. It’s awesome.

Mandy’s List

  1. Practical Magic – Zoe Kravitz & Zendaya – “How Do You Spell Sister?”
  2. Steel Magnolia – “Drink Your Juice” – Jane Kracowzki, Taraji P. Henson, Melissa McCarthy
  3. The Princess Bride – “Not Grandpa” – Zendaya & Harry Styles

Tommy’s List

  1. Whiplash – JK Simmons & Miles Teller – “Cymbal Face”
  2. Forrest Gump – “Chocolates and Shrimp” – Will Ferrell
  3. Stand By Me – “Do You Want To See A Body” – Jacob Tremblay

Krissy’s List

  1. The Shining – Jensen Ackles – “Welcome to the Overlook”
  2. What We Do In The Shadows – Cast of Stranger THings – “So Much Blood!”
  3. Labyrinth – Maya Hawke & Lady Gaga & Lil Nas Ex – “It’s not fair!”
