Minute Ninety Two: From An Old-Fashioned Notion to The Old Security Guard

Matthew Fox from the Superhero Ethics Podcast and season 4 joins us in this episode!

In the ninety-second minute of The Avengers

We start this minute off with the final moments of Nick Fury as he watches Tony walk out of the room. His pitch failed, at least so it seems. We talk a bit about Fury and his approach, not to mention perhaps his fascist position. From there, we try to figure out exactly what the storytellers are wanting us to get out of this brief moment with Thor. Is he concerned he’s lost his ability to wield Mjølnir and is no longer worthy? Why would he think that? And why is this scene so forgettable?

It also interestingly plays with some audio from the next scene of the security guard – an always delightful Harry Dean Stanton – as he tells Bruce he fell from the sky. We do the IMDb game with Stanton and start our discussion about this interesting scene. Plus, a chat about conveniently placed rubble. Tune in!
