Happy Saturday, Movie Lovers! Pete, Kyle, and Tommy are here to ring in the week’s end with talk of movies and TV on the offing. First and foremost, Malignant is coming, and some of us are leaving here and heading right over to the Film Board to talk about it.

Tom and Kyle have thoughts on the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and which films are worthy (hint: the ones with Craven’s involvement). Plus, recommendations to check out ‘The Other Two’ and ‘Only Murderers in the Building’.

Kyle’s been watching ‘Black Sails’. Seriously you all… did you know this was a Treasure Island prequel? Yeah, we probably would have caught up with it in a more timely fashion had we known that three seasons ago.

Apparently, Tommy picked his trailer many moons ago so, in spite of new drops like those Kyle and Pete picked, he stuck to his guns and brought something … well, actually it looks to be something pretty special:

  • Tommy’s Trailer: Come From Away
  • Kyle’s Trailer: Last Night in Soho
  • Pete’s Trailer: The Matrix Resurrections

The Game: Poster Pals!

Pete came up with this ridiculous game in which he sends a movie poster to one player, who then has to describe it to the other player and get them to guess the movie. Now, he should have been more specific about the things you can — and cannot — say to cue the guesses. This will be resolved in version two. But it was fun anyway!

THE LIST! Getting Caught in a Cult

OK, not the friendlies of topics this Saturday Matinée, but the team rallied and offers a list of some fun films to get you indoctrinated into the world of cults, just like the cult we explored this week on The Next Reel. We’ve kicked off our series on Horror Debuts with Messiah of Evil where we visit Pointe Dune and see all the fun beach-going cultists at work and play!

Tommy’s List

  1. The Mist
  2. The Invitation
  3. Bad Times at El Royale

Kyle’s List

  1. Manos: The Hands of Fate
  2. Lord of Illusions
  3. Ready or Not

Pete’s List

  1. The Devil’s Rain
  2. Mandy
  3. Martha Marcy May Marlene
