Jaws: The Revenge • Member Bonus
“Sharks come and go, Ellen. People have nothing to do with it.”
The Psychic Link Between Great Whites and the Brodys
The premise of Jaws: The Revenge is complete nonsense, but it didn’t have to be. There were interesting character moments in the film that could have made it work. The strange vengeful shark and the apparent psychic connection between it and the Brodys really made no sense, though. That didn’t keep Universal from pushing this movie out in record time from start to finish. Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we wrap up our member bonus Jaws series with Joseph Sargent’s 1987 movie Jaws: The Revenge.
We talk about the history and why this film got greenlit in the first place. The cast has some interesting returning faces, though the sons have yet again been recast (even though apparently Dennis Quaid was offered the part). Was there a chance for this at all considering the rushed nature of the script? Sargent’s directed some great films. Why is this such a disaster? How about that change to the ending after the film was released theatrically?
There’s a lot to talk about with this one. It’s a great conversation, so check it out then tune in. The Next Reel – when the movie ends, our conversation begins!
