Retake: The Before Trilogy

We’re done talking about the movies. Now let’s talk about the series.

We have come to the end of our Before Trilogy series, exploring three films from writer/director Richard Linklater, working with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. All told, we covered Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight. So what did we – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – think about not just the films but the series as a whole?

Here’s a hint at what we talk about.

We certainly had our share of disagreements about the films, and we continue that here. That being said, we also tap into something that may get to the heart of why we disagree so much about these films.
Plus, we rank all of the films on Flickchart.
It was a fun series to discuss and a great addition to our 12th season. Next up – The Raid films! The Next Reel – when the movie ends, our conversation begins!

A show about movies and how they connect.

When the movie ends, our conversation begins. We love movies. We’ve been talking about them, one movie a week, since 2011. It’s a lot of movies, that’s true, but we’re passionate about origins and performance, directors and actors, themes and genres, and so much more. So join the community and let’s hear about your favorite movies, too.
